atha ujjayi
mukham sanyamya nadibhyam akrishya pavanam shanaih |
yatha lagati kanthat tu hridayavadhi sa svanam ||51||

अथ उज्जायी
मुखं संयम्य नाडीभ्याम् आकृष्य पवनं शनैः ।
यथा लगति कण्ठात् तु हृदयावधि सस्वनम् ॥५१॥

atha ujjāyī-
mukhaṁ saṁyamya nāḍībhyām ākṛṣya pavanaṁ śanaiḥ |
yathā lagati kaṇṭhāt tu hṛdayāvadhi sa-svanam ||51||

Und nun Ujjayi:
Der Mund wird verschlossen. Langsam wird der Lebenshauch durch beide Nasenlöcher hineingesogen, |
so dass er wahrlich von der Kehle bis nach unten zum Herzen mit einem lauten Geräusch in Kontakt kommt. ||51||

atha (अथ, atha) = nun, jetzt
ujjayi (उज्जायी, ujjāyī) = Ujjaayii, Name der Atemübung

mukham (मुखम्, mukham) = Mund
sanyamya (संयम्य, saṁyamya) = verschlossen, zugeschlossen, geschlossen
nadibhyam (नाडीभ्याम्, nāḍībhyām) = durch beide Nasenlöcher, durch beide subtilen Energiekanäle (dual)
akrishya (आकृष्य, ākṛṣya) = ziehen, einsaugen, einatmen
pavanam (पवनम्, pavanam) = die Luft, Lebenshauch, Prana
shanaih (शनैः, śanaiḥ) = langsam

yatha (यथा, yathā) = so dass
lagati (लगति, lagati) = in Kontakt kommen
kanthat (कण्ठात्, kaṇṭhāt) = von der Kehle
tu (तु, tu) = wahrlich
hridaya (हृदय, hṛdaya) = Herz
avadhi (अवधि, avadhi) = nach unten erstrecken
sasvanam (सस्वनम्, sasvanam) = lauter Ton
