Bhadram Shanti Mantra

Sentence 1

om bhadram karnebhih shrinuyama devah |
bhadram pashyemashabhir yajatrah ||

ओम् भद्रं कर्णेभिः शृणुयाम देवाः ।
भद्रं पश्येमाशभिर्यजत्राः ॥

om bhadraṁ karṇebhiḥ śṛṇuyāma devāḥ |
bhadraṁ paśyemāśabhir-yajatrāḥ ||

Oh Gods,
may we hear Good with our ears, |
may we see Good with our eyes,
when we carry out the sacrifice. ||

om (ओम्, om) = the omkara (ओम्कार, omkāra) or Symbol for Brahman, the absolute self
bhadram (भद्रं, bhadraṁ) = the Good, Safety, bringing Happiness
karnebhih (कर्णेभिः, karṇebhiḥ) = through the ears, with the ears
shrinuyama (शृणुयाम, śṛṇuyāma) = may we hear
devah (देवाः, devāḥ) = oh Gods

bhadram (भद्रम्, bhadram) = the Good, Safety, bringing Happiness (Acc.)
pashyemakshabhih (पश्येमाक्शभिः, paśyemākśabhiḥ) = may we see with our eyes
yajatrah (यजत्राः, yajatrāḥ) = das yaga (याग, yāga), yagya (यग्य, yagya) ie. carrying out sacrifice
