What can you expect in this exercise video?
Your feet are your foundation. The stronger the muscles of your feet, and the more awareness you have for them, the lighter you will feel on them. In this video, Dr. Ronald Steiner shows you how you can mobilize, strengthen and rebuild weakened foot arches so that you can establish more stability. The sequence is particularly suitable for those with splayfeet or hallux valgus, but it can be equally helpful if you wish to maintain healthy feet.
Mobilizing the feet
Ronald shows you different forefoot massage techniques that will improve circulation to the feet. Additionally, these exercises help to develop the flexibility needed to prevent or reduce cramping, as well as to improve the health of the arches. A flexible foot is a requirement if you want to improve or reduce the deformation caused by conditions such as splayfoot or hallux valgus. Proactively, we can also work to prevent that these even occur.
Strengthening the arches
A strong arch is needed in the foot and it is required in order to stand upright and to take pressure off of the knees and hips. The three-dimensional arch structure of the foot must be supported by the appropriate musculature. The exercises in this video will help you to strengthen the deep muscles of the foot. In this exercise the toes are spread out wide and then pressure is given against the big toe and the pinky toe. This helps to create a springy transverse arch in the foot.
For whom is this video interesting?
This video tutorial is especially helpful for those with splayfoot or hallus valgus. At the same time, these therapeutic exercises are valuable for anyone looking to maintain the natural tension in the foot muscles. The exercises strengthen the transverse arch of the feet and lifts it up. Your entire body will follow suit and one well established a well-aligned posture will arise. Starting from such a solid foundation you will benefit not only in every day life but also on the yoga mat. You will cultivate more harmonious movement as a result.
