anu bhuta vishaya asanpramoshah smritih ||11||

अनुभूतविषयासंप्रमोषः स्मृतिः ॥११॥

anu-bhūta-viṣaya-asaṁpramoṣaḥ smṛtiḥ ||11||

Recollections are engendered by the past, insofar as the relevant experience has not been eclipsed. ||11||

anu (अनु, anu) = (prep/adv) from
bhuta (भूत, bhūta) = (iic.) that which has been experienced; the past
vishaya (विषय, viṣaya) = (iic.) entity; situation; experience
a (अ, a) = not
sam (सं, saṁ) = fully; completely
asam (असं, asaṁ) = (acc. sg. m. from asa (आस, āsa)) incomplete
pramoshah (प्रमोषः, pramoṣaḥ) = (m. from pramosha (प्रमोष, pramoṣa)) rob; remove; eliminate; obscure
smritih (स्मृतिः, smṛtiḥ) = (nom. sg. f. from smriti (स्मृति, smṛti)) memory; recollections
