smriti parishuddhau svarupa shunyeva arthamatra nirbhasa nirvitarka ||43||

स्मृतिपरिशुद्धौ स्वरूपशून्येवार्थमात्रनिर्भासा निर्वितर्का ॥४३॥

smṛti-pariśuddhau svarūpa-śūnyeva-arthamātra-nirbhāsā nirvitarkā ||43||

Once all previous impressions (smriti) have been purged and one’s own nature is clearly perceptible, then only the object of contemplation emanates light. This is nirvitarka samapatti. ||43||

smriti (स्मृति, smṛti) = remembrance; previous impression
parishuddhau (परिशुद्धौ, pariśuddhau) = purged
svarupa (स्वरूप, svarūpa) = own form; own nature
shunya (शून्य, śūnya) = without; empty; eliminate
iva (इव, iva) = as if
artha (अर्थ, artha) = image; picture; object; truth
matra (मात्र, mātra) = only
nirbhasa (निर्भासा, nirbhāsā) = luminous; reflecting; radiant
nirvitarka (निर्वितर्का, nirvitarkā) = without acceptance; the next, more subtle state of samapatti
