tatra shabdartha jnana vikalpaih sankirna savitarka samapattih ||42||

तत्र शब्दार्थज्ञानविकल्पैः संकीर्णा सवितर्का समापत्तिः ॥४२॥

tatra śabdārtha-jñāna-vikalpaiḥ saṁkīrṇā savitarkā samāpattiḥ ||42||

In conjunction with word and object knowledge, or imagination, this state is savitarka samapatti. ||42||

tatra (तत्र, tatra) = this; these
shabda (शब्द, śabda) = word
artha (अर्थ, artha) = image; picture; object; truth
jnana (ज्ञान, jñāna) = knowledge
vikalpah (विकल्पः, vikalpaḥ) = (nom. from vikalpa (विकल्प, vikalpa)) an imagining; an illusion
sankirna (संकीर्ण, saṁkīrṇa) = skewed; distorted; mixed
savitarka (सवितर्क, savitarka) = with acceptance
samapattih (समापत्तिः, samāpattiḥ) = (nom. from samapatti (समापत्ति, samāpatti)) samapatti; a state of enlightenment
savitarka samapattih (सवितर्क समापत्तिः, savitarka samāpattiḥ) = a specific form of samapatti
