vritti sarupyam itaratra ||4||
वृत्ति सारूप्यमितरत्र ॥४॥
vṛtti sārūpyam-itaratra ||4||
Lacking that, misconceptions (vritti) skew our perceptions. ||4||
vritti (वृत्ति, vṛtti) = (nom. sg. f.) waves; changes; thought waves; lack of clarity
sa (सा, sā) = (icc.) similar
rupyam (रूप्यम्, rūpyam) = (acc. sg. m./acc. sg. n./nom. sg. n.- rupya (रूप्य, rūpya)) form
sarupyam (सारूप्यम्, sārūpyam) = (acc. sg. m. from sarupya (सारूप्य, sārūpya)) similar form, as opposed to proprietary form of svaruupa (see above). In other words, we identify with something that is merely similar to our true nature, thus engendering a skewed perception.
