How it's done
Standing behind the practitioner, place your feet in the same direction behind the student. This means you follow the student's stance on both sides. By placing your foot directly behind theirs, you will establish a common foundation.
From here you clasp your hands around the femur of the front leg at the hip flexor and pull the head of the femur upwards toward you as your student enters the full expression of the pose.
Once in the essence of the pose, ask the practitioner to lengthen away from you.
Why we recommend this video
Using the 'tug of war' method for Trikonasana is very effective in lengthening. We love it because it is simple and effective. Give it a try and let us know what you think about it!
