bahya abhyantara sthambha vrittih desha kala sankhyabhih paridrishto dirgha sukshmah ||50||

बाह्याभ्यन्तरस्थम्भ वृत्तिः देशकालसन्ख्याभिः परिदृष्टो दीर्घसूक्ष्मः ॥५०॥

bāhya-ābhyantara-sthambha vṛttiḥ deśa-kāla-sankhyābhiḥ paridṛṣṭo dīrgha-sūkṣmaḥ ||50||

Exhalation, inhalation, retention, technique, time and number must be very precisely regulated over a lengthy period. ||50||

bahya (बाह्य, bāhya) = external; exhalation
abhyantara (अभ्यन्तर, abhyantara) = internal; inhalation
stambha (स्तम्भ, stambha) = steadiness; restraint; suspension; stationary
vrittih (वृत्तिः, vṛttiḥ) = (nom. from vritti (वृत्ति, vṛtti)) wave; thoughts; thought waves; movement
desha (देश, deśa) = place; technique
kala (काल, kāla) = time
sankhyabhih (संख्याभिः, saṁkhyābhiḥ) = (nom. from sankhyabhi (संख्याभि, saṁkhyābhi)) number; mathematics
paridrishto (परिदृष्टो, paridṛṣṭo) = (from paridrishta (परिदृष्ट, paridṛṣṭa)) measured; regulated; precisely observed; verified
