Mythology: Once the bow has been drawn, the second moment follows: the arrow leaves the string. In symbolic terms, this stands for directed unfolding: gathered energy becomes expression, potential becomes movement. An arrow flies straight only when it is released from a clear axis—not out of haste, not out of excess force, but out of timing. That is why the “shot” in many stories also serves as an image of dharma: action becomes true only when it arises from clarity. Ākarṇa Dhanurāsana B recalls this transition: you do not simply let tension go, you direct it—and only then does strength become a line.

In the traditional count: Begin directly from the previous posture.

Vinyāsa 10 – Inhalation, 5 breaths:
With the inhalation, straighten the right leg vertically upward. Follow the right foot with your gaze. Remain in Ākarṇa Dhanurāsana B until the fifth exhalation.

Tip: In Ākarṇa Dhanurāsana B, the axis is decisive. Do not merely “pull” the leg upward; let it grow upward instead: keep the pelvis quiet and as square as possible, and keep the lumbar spine long. Press the extended leg actively into the floor and keep the foot flexed so the back line of the leg remains organized. In the lifted leg, a subtle external rotation from the hip helps the knee point cleanly upward and prevents the pelvis from compensating.

Vinyāsa 11 – Exhalation:
With the exhalation, bend the right leg back into Ākarṇa Dhanurāsana A. Your gaze returns to the left foot.

Vinyāsa 12 to 15:
Repeat the entire sequence of Ākarṇa Dhanurāsana A and B on the other side.

Vinyāsa 16 to 20:
Follow the movement flow you already know until a hold in Adho Mukha Śvānāsana.

In the traditional count: From here, the movement flow continues directly into the next posture.

Effect: Compared with A, Ākarṇa Dhanurāsana B intensifies the work on axis and pelvic stability: the upright leg demands a clear midline, an active posterior leg chain, and a quiet lumbar spine. The posture trains balance, coordination, and visual focus while deeply stretching the back line of the leg
